In Loving Memory of Wardell King
Wardell King was born on February 6, 1955 in Albany. NY to the late James L. King Sr. and Grace L. Gray King. Wardell departed this life at AMC, surrounded by his loving family.Wardell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.
Wardell was educated in the Albany Public School System. Later, he went to HVCC, earning an Associate Degree in Computer Programming. Wardell worked for NYS for over 30 years, until retiring in 2019.
Wardell loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather. Those children were his world. He was proud to be their Pop-Pop.
Second to his family and friends, Wardell loved playing his guitar and singing. One of our favorite songs Wardell would sing to us was "Sara Smile" by Daryl Hall and John Oates. Wardell loved all kinds of music. He would recite rap songs, thinking he could be a rapper (LOL).
Wardell's dream was to one day play the guitar alongside his idol, Jimi Hendrix. We all can see you now, in Heaven, making beautiful music with Jimi as he would call him.
Wardell also loved playing chess, solitaire, and the NYS lottery. His favorite number to play was his niece Jama's birthday -9/21, that he hit several times. Wardell had a signature laugh that we all can still hear (AAGHH)
Wardell was a true family man that would really give you the shirt off his back.
