Vivian Ann Brown Morris Vivian Ann Brown Morris, age 68, passed away on January 7, 2026. She was born on March 4, 1957, in Mullins, South Carolina, to Harley Arthur Brown and Margie Smith Brown. Ann was one of ten children and grew up surrounded by strong family bonds that shaped her life.
Ann graduated from Lake View High School in South Carolina and began her career as a substitute teacher for the Dillon School District, serving her community with dedication and care. In 1980, the family relocated to Albany, New York, where Ann furthered her education by enrolling in the Mildred Elley Clinical Medical Assistant Program, earning her certification. She went on to work in healthcare as a Medical Assistant at the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, where she provided compassionate care to veterans for many years until her retirement in 2009.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, Harley Arthur Brown, and her siblings Alice “Kitty” Legette, Joe Ervin Brown, Charles Lee Brown, Ronnie Brown, and Ginger Fay Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving mother, Margie Smith Brown; her siblings Elizabeth “Boot” Pennick (Sam, deceased), Lettie Brown, Retired Staff Sergeant George E. Brown (Jackie), Curtisteen Stevenson (James Darryl), and Evangelist Melvin Brown; her children Torey Brown (Daymein), Dontae Brown, and Edward Brown; her grandchildren Dolisia Brown and Demarea Brown; her aunts Marcella Brown, Irene Brown, Grace Brown, and Vivian Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ann will be remembered for her quiet strength, dedication to service, and deep love for her family. She liked to make everyone happy and made friends everywhere she went. Ann was always able to put a smile on someone’s face. Her life touched many, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Garland Brothers Funeral Home 75 Clinton Ave, Albany, NY 12210. Viewing 10:00 am, Service 11:00am
