Shirley (Tucker) Worthen Obituary

On Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 9:24 p.m. after a brief illness, God’s Angel took Shirley by the hand and gently escorted her into her new life, where there is life with no more crying, pain or suffering.
 
One of eight children, Shirley was born in Albany, NY on November 4, 1936 to the late Clarence and Willie Mae Tucker.  Shirley moved from Albany at an early age to Brooklyn, NY, where she met and married Frank Worthen on November 5, 1955. From that union they had six children.
 
Shirley was educated and graduated in Brooklyn, NY where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at the Jewish Hospital on Coney Island.  Then she moved to Albany and worked at Eden Park Nursing Home also as a Nurse’s Aide.  Shirley attended  the Manpower Training School in Albany, NY where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse on October 12, 1973.  As of this day, Shirley is still listed as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
 
Left to cherish and honor her memory are her children, Robina (Jimmie) Webb of Albany, NY, Deborah (James) Walton of Albany, NY, Darlene Ross of Latham, NY, Frank Worthen, Jr., Georgina Worthen, both of Albany, NY, Patrick Worthen of Gloversville, NY and Estelle Leslie Junior also of Albany, NY and her grandchilden, Suriya and Shar’Nae Webb, both of Albany, NY, Nakia Walton of Albany, NY, Chris Pounds of Norwalk, CT, Tyler Ross of Brooklyn, NY, Shavonne Walton of Albany, NY, Jashad, Jahaan, Raymeir and Raynaun Worthen of Albany, NY, A-mila West of Chester, NY and Myles West of Schenectady, NY along with her great-grandchildren, Zymeir Walton, Semaja Walton, Surmar William, Sa-Vion Walton, NaKenya Walton, Jeremiah Richardson, Damar (DJ) Walton, Avante Williams, Jace Pounds and Honor Martinez. Shirley is survived by her sister Betty Marshall of Bronx, NY anda a brother Clarence Tucker Jr. of Brooklyn, NY.
 
 
 
Shirley is predeceased by her parents, her husband Frank Worthen and  her five sisters, Edna Mae Taylor, Theresa Brown, Dorothy Williams, Eunice Franklin and Phyllis Mahoney.  She is also predeceased  by her grandson, Shaun J. Walton of Albany, NY.
