Ruby Lewis Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.
2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)

Ruby Lewis, age 65, of Albany, New York, daughter of the late Alvin and Edna Mae Lewis, was born on April 10, 1957, in Troy, New York, and departed from this life on April 25, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family.
Ruby was a very loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, cousin, and friend, that would give the shirt off her back to anyone she cared about. Ruby was a force to be reckoned with, full of life, a Rock, and a dedicated servant to God!
Growing up with Ruby was never a dull moment. She would spend countless hours reminiscing, talking, and laughing about childhood memories. Ruby loved spending time with family, discussing the Bible, eating delicious foods, and watching scary/crime movies. Most of all, Ruby loved to cook! Cooking was her passion!! She always wanted to open a restaurant where she could feed the neighborhood kids before they went to school.
Ruby’s Sunday cooking always bought family together for lots of laughter, love, and happiness.  She could create/cook any meal from scratch effortlessly! Ruby loved spending time with and having her beloved son: Robert Fitzgerald, granddaughter: Zionna Fitzgerald, brother: Andrew Lewis, sister: Christine Lewis, and special niece: Kansinya Boone and family, over to play cards and have dinner. More than anything, that was her favorite pastime.
Ruby touched the lives of many people over the years. Her honest opinion and outlook on life, did not spare any feelings. That same fighting spirit she carried until the end. Ruby was educated through the City of Troy Public School System, where she graduated from Troy High School in 1975. Following graduation, Ruby had worked numerous jobs, such as Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Roxy Cleaners, Commodore Cleaners, and her final place of employment for many years, St. Peter’s Hospital.
Ruby will be greatly missed! She was predeceased in death by her beloved family members; her parents, Alvin & Edna Mae Lewis; her brother, John Lewis; and sisters, Charlene Lewis and Betty Rose Lewis-Tolbert. Her loved ones waiting to meet her again are her: son, Robert Fitzgerald; granddaughter, Zionna Fitzgerald; great-grandson, Knowledge Dixon-Bennett; 6 siblings: Inell Lewis of Duluth, GA; Lynn Hallmon of Lithonia, GA; Andrew Lewis (Christine); Christine, Nettie, and Eddie Lewis all of Troy, NY; special niece: Kansinya “KC” Boone; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
