Rosa Priscilla Wideman, affectionately known as "Madam," of Albany, New York age 85 peacefully entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosa Priscilla Wideman was born on March 10, 1940, in Hudson, New York, to the late Helen (James) Barnes and James Beverly. Her family relocated to Albany, New York, when she was a toddler. She was educated in Albany City School District and was a graduate of Albany High School.
Rosa was gainfully employed by the New York State Civil Service as a School Crossing Officer in the City of Albany for over thirty years. She was widely known and deeply loved by the countless children and families she served throughout the years, many of whom continued to affectionately refer to her as "Mom" well into adulthood. In addition to her service with the City of Albany, Rosa was employed by Golub Corporation (Price Chopper) as an Office Associate for over twenty years. She was also employed for many years as a cashier at Franze's Super Mart.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Helen (James) Barnes and James Beverly; her daughter, Joanna Dale; her son, Joseph Dale Jr.; her brothers, James Beverly, John Beverly, and William Barnes; her sister, Ella Mae Johnson; her granddaughter, Shadeema Jenkins; and her great-grandson, Terran Clark.
Rosa leaves to cherish her loving memory her devoted husband of fifty years, William Wideman Jr.; her daughters, Cynthia Pickens, Stephanie Dale, and Rosa Perry (Charles), all of Albany, New York; her sisters, Rev. Beverly Timmons of Scotia, New York, Marjorie Barnes of Schenectady, New York, Margaret Brandon and Helen Hart (Harry Sr.), both of Albany, New York; twenty-two grandchildren; over fifty great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves two very special nephews, Harry Hart Jr. and Allen Brandon; one adoptive grandson, Horace Millwood (Jay); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Albany Medical Center Emergency Department, the Albany Fire Department, Garland Bros. Funeral Home, and Rev. Dr. Damone Paul Johnson for their compassionate care, professionalism, and support.
