The Obituary ROSA MAY GUTHRIE
Rosa May Guthrie was born on April 7, 1939 in Halifax, Virginia to the late Bernice and James Guthrie. Rosa passed at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home, Albany, New York on June 12, 2025.
Rosa was soft-spoken and had a gentle soul. She was employed at various resorts in New Jersey and New York throughout her years. Finally, she retired from the NYS Department of Education. Rosa was a faithful companion to James Strickland for many years and enjoyed accompanying him to Masonic social events.
She also loved going to Red Lobster, shopping and traveling to various casinos. The Strickland family will remember Rosa for her compassionate care of James during his time of need.
Rosa leaves to cherish her memory: son Ronald Guthrie; niece Mary Vargas; nephew James Guthrie III, sister-in-law Pearl Guthrie, great nieces, nephews and friends. Her longtime friends: Carol Nelson, Rosie Lewis and Pat Johnson (Winston-Salem, North Carolina). In addition to parents and her companion, Rosa was predeceased by brothers James and Charlie Guthrie; sisters Doris Ryan and Alice Brooks; and niece Pearl Martin.
Rosa’s smile and sweet spirit will surely be missed!
