Ronnie L. Carter, 73 years of age, passed on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Livingston Hills, Livingston New York Nursing Home.
Ronnie was born September 26, 1951 in Sarasota, Florida to the late Arthur L. Carter and Audrey L. McGruder-Carter. He was the youngest of his twin brother, Roger Carter and the third of five children. Ronnie was educated in the Albany City School District and continued his education at the Hudson Valley Community College of Troy, New York where he studied automobile mechanics. Ronnie was very stylish and had many talents such as photography where he was using our one family bathroom as his developing dark room. He also was a musician of several instruments such as the drums and trumpet, but most of all he loved the flute and the clarinet.
He also loved drawing, but anyone who thought they knew how to play chess he would challenge them and that would be the end of that when they found out he was well versed at the game. Around 1975, he decided that he could no longer live in the northeast due to the cold winters, so he moved to Atlanta Georgia and became the travelling mechanic known as “Doc”. Everyone knew him and if you wanted your car repaired, call “Doc”. In 2024 he would call his sister Cynthia (Sissy) and talk about coming home to be surrounded by his family to show them love. Ronnie returned home December 30, 2024 not knowing he was as sick as he was.
Ronnie is predeceased by his wife, Gillian Parson-Carter. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Adowa Harris of Houston, TX, Tamesha Scott of Albany, NY and Aqueedah Carter of Albany, NY. Grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 5.
His siblings are Cynthia Carter, twin brother, Roger L. Carter, George E. Carter and Betrand A. Carter, all of Albany, NY and Arthur Carter of TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
