Nina Belle Caldwell 80, departed this life on Sunday, August 3, 2025 in the comfort of her son's home in Green Island, NY. She was born on February 15, 1945 to the late Harry Caldwell and Retha White Caldwell in Durham, N.C. As a young child Nina and her family relocated to the Albany, New York area with the help of the late Elder John Johnson, “Brother Jack”. Nina was raised in the COGIC Church as a young girl and she continued to have faith, trust and believed in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Nina received her education in the Albany City School system and later attended Albany Business College. Nina was a stay at home mom when her children were younger. She later decided to go into the Health Care field because she loved helping people, especially the Elderly. She was employed as a Nurses Aide at Eden Park Nursing Home and the various local Hospitals. She also loved working with numbers and held various positions processing Income Taxes thru Norstar Bank/ Fleet Bank and NYS Taxation & Finance; with that experience, she even started preparing Income Taxes for her family members and friends, until e-filing taxes online, bloomed and took over.
Nina was a fun and loving mom, as well as a protector, she did not play about her children. She showed even more love and affection towards her grand and great grand children. Nina answered to so many different names, Grandma Nana, Nana, Nann, ”Chugga”, Nanabell, Aunt NinaBell and Aunt Nina by family, friends and neighbors. The one that meant the most, was “Chugga”; she was “Brownie’s” Chugga. Nina was a fashionista in her own right! She could coordinate any and every color and make a fabulous outfit. We will for sure miss our walking magazine.
Nina had lived on Colonie Street, aka C Block for over 40 years and was very well known to her C Block Community as Grandma Nana. Once moving to A Building she used to sale Icees made with Paw-paw’s famous kool-aid for $.50 and $1 to the kids of the neighborhood and her grand children included.
