On Dec 2, 2023, Lisa Marie McCoy, born Feb 19, 1968, transitioned into eternal life at the age of 55. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Willie Marvin and Mary Frances McCoy; sister to Darryl McCoy (Sherry), Michelle Sparks (Barry), and Kimberly Fitch; and mother to Jovan McCoy and Kevin McCoy.
Lisa attended Niskayuna Central Schools and graduated from Niskayuna High School in New York. During Lisa’s formative years she attended Sojourner Truth AME Zion Church in Albany, New York.
Lisa's vivacious spirit was contagious, and her jovial nature brought joy to those around her. She loved to laugh, make jokes, and enjoy time spent with her family. She would expressively sing songs like Anita Baker’s “Caught Up in the Rapture”, filling the halls of her home with her beautiful voice. Her infectious laughter echoed through the corridors of family gatherings, creating lasting memories of happiness.
Lisa's life was defined by her resilience. While she faced the complexities of her own journey, her love for family remained constant. Lisa never forgot a birthday or relative. She had a passion for writing letters and poems which were a reflection of her expressive soul. Her words were a source of comfort and connection. They often served as a therapeutic bridge between her intellectual and expressive nature, reminding others that they were never forgotten and that she was always thinking of them.
Jovan, her eldest son, stood by her side with unwavering devotion and support as she faced various health issues. His selfless dedication exemplifies the depth of the bond of love between mother and son. Her youngest son, Kevin, brought her refined joy each time he was in her presence. One hug from him would emit a sense of calm and peace. Jovan and Kevin, were the lights of her world. Love, strength, and faith will be the torch that is passed on to her two sons and her family.
Lisa is survived by her children, siblings, nieces & nephews: Darryl Jr., DeAnna, Brittney, Michael, Melanie, Nigel, X. Josiah, and Brielle. Also a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
