Ms. Annette M. Danzy

On Thursday August 31, 2023, the Lord peacefully called Annette Marie Danzy (61) to her just reward after a long battle with breast cancer.

Annette was born on December 16, 1961, in Albany, NY. She was the eldest child of three born to the late Esau Danzy and Louise Dow Danzy of Albany. Annette was a graduate of the Albany City School District. She attended Cathedral of Albany and Albany High School. She graduated with the class of 1980 with a Certificate in Homemaker & Home Health Assisting. She furthered her education and love for people, ultimately becoming a dedicated certified nursing assistant (CNA) for 20 years.

Annette loved being a mother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend to many. She was selfless, compassionate, and understanding in her heart and spirit. She also enjoyed being around family, traveling, music, and any movies starring Denzel Washington. Annette took pride in being an amazing mother to her four children and grandmother (“Mema”) to her six grandchildren.

Annette was grateful and cherished her extensive sisterhood with her dear friends Kathy (Ronnie) Hall of Chicago, IL; Ann Buchanan of Atlanta, GA; Marie Bennett of Scotia, NY; Debra Frost, Tonya Brooks, Janell Jones and Kelly French, all off Albany, just to name a few. Likewise, Annette treasured her bond with her cousins, Sean Schalit of Georgia; Wayne Miller of Texas; Amanda Payton of Connecticut; and Raeshawn Dow of New York. She always reminisced about the fun times and memories she shared with them.

Annette is survived by her mother, Louise Dow-Danzy; her children: Nicole (Jamell) Danzy Jackson; Erica Danzy, Earren and Ebony Durham; grandchildren: Jamell Jackson, Jr., Jeremiah Jackson, Dreyveon Dejesus, Earren Durham (“JR”), Janaya Jackson and Jai’mani Dejesus; brother, Kelvin Danzy of Albany; sister, Christine (Abar) Danzy-Miller; nieces and nephews and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins from New York, Bethune, SC, and Greenwood, SC.

Annette is predeceased by her father, Esau Danzy of Bethune, SC; the father of her youngest children, Earren Durham, Sr.; grandparents, Christine (Harvey) Jackson Danzy of Bethune, SC, and Queenie (John) Mackey Dow Vice of Greenwood, SC; uncles, John Ed, Robert Sr., Bobby Danzy, Sonny, Junior Dow and Donald Vice; and aunts, Sophie Danzy, Mary Lee Danzy, Doris Dow and Margaret Dow
