Evangelist Andrea Lee Johnson Allen
    Sunrise – August 6, 1943 Sunset – December 13, 2023

Andrea Lee Johnson Allen was born August 6, 1943, in Albany, NY, the only daughter born to Lee Andrew and Dorothy Lewis Johnson. Andrea was educated in the Albany public school system and graduated from Albany High School in 1961.  A gifted singer, Andrea attended the Music Conservatory at the tender age of 8.

Andrea continued her education at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in music.  Andrea was a proud member of the “world renowned”, Fisk Jubilee Singers.  Upon graduation, Andrea returned to Albany to care for her ailing mother.

After returning home, Andrea worked for a brief time for the Tobin Packing Company, in Albany.  After which, Andrea was hired by the Albany Neighborhood House as Assistant Director.  In 1969, Andrea joined the New York State workforce, serving in the NYS Office of Mental Hygiene (currently known as Office of Mental Health), as Program Administrator, Bureau Chief and Director of the Youth Opportunity Program until her retirement in 2001.  After her retirement, Andrea continued to serve her community by working with the Abrookin Career and Technical Center and Two Together, a free after-school reading and writing program, both located in Albany, New York.

At an early age, Andrea accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized into the fellowship of the Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Reverend Dr. Moses Scipio Hunter.   Under the Pastorate of both Rev. Hunter and Reverend Pleasant J. Foy, Andrea faithfully served as Superintendent of the Sunday School, teacher of the young adult Sunday School class, member of all of the Morning Star church choirs, Director of the MSMBC Board of Christian Education, and Church Historian.  Andrea also provided music for the Sunday School by filling in for the church pianist, when needed.  Andrea was also a member of the Faith Choraleers, a mass community choir in Albany, New York.  With love for her church, Andrea chaired the 100th Church Anniversary Committee and raised over $10,000 for the building renovation campaign.  She also chaired the church building renovation feasibility study working with the church Trustee board and completed a construction project for the current building structure.

In 1993 Andrea continued in her service to God and His people, by joining the fellowship of Wilborn Temple First Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Elder Emmett H.  Jeffress, where she served as an Evangelist until her passing.  As a devoted member of Wilborn Temple, under the leadership of Pastor Solomon Dees, Andrea served as a member of the Pastor’s Aid, and spearheaded the Temple Tots, a reading program for children ages 3 to 5 years old.

Andrea was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Faithful, reliable, and dedicated are words that best describe Andrea as she lived her life.  She was known for having a great sense of humor, a strong personality, a loving heart and love for God and folk.  Andrea was an avid reader and had an insatiable appetite for history and biblical studies, for she truly knew how to rightly divide the Word of God.  Andrea also loved to cook, bake, and crochet.

All who knew her loved her, but God loved her best and at 7:10pm, December 13, 2023, with family surrounding her, God escorted Andrea from life to life eternal, from elder to ancestor.  She was predeceased by her parents, Lee and Dorothy Johnson and her brother, Reverend David Anthony Johnson, PhD.

Celebrating Andrea’s great legacy and love are her devoted daughter, Victoria Dickson; Godsister, Mildred Ephron; Goddaughters, Kimberly Bobb, Krystina Marable, Sarah Pointer, Kassandra Pointer, and Godson, Kyle Howard; Daughters-in-Christ Regina Perez, Alicia Smith, Denise Zonitch; son-in-Christ, George Williams; close cousins, Jewel Smith and Loretta Bowery; nieces, Dojoya Johnson and Delorise Moore; cherished God-given children and grandchildren, Nikisha Kaiser, Aminah Brown, Erica Johnson, Carnella Walker, Thomas Perez, Jr., Jasmine Bauer, Xavier Perez, Zachary Favata, Isaiah Perez, Lucas Perez, Jayden Kaiser, Lauryn Marable, Quran Gathers, Omari Daniels, Kianna Marable, Bobby Hamlin, and Kiyomi Hamlin; life-long dear friend, Margaretta Reid Fairweather; close friends, Yvonne Chandler, Ann Mattei, Doris Bourgeois Turner, Elsa Brooks, Juanita Nabors, Christianna Thomas and E.
