Mr.Youell Dudley Obituary

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith

2 Timothy 4:7

Youell Lin Dudley also known as “Poopie” and/or “Dugar” was born on March 27, 1957, in Brooklyn, NY.  He was the beloved son of the late Evangelist Geraldine Dudley-Neale.

Youell entered eternal rest on February 24, 2023 at the Westchester Memorial Hospital.  His beloved wife Luella, and his niece Lashanna were with him when he took flight.

Youell grew up in the south and lived at what was known as “The Mitchell Wooten Court Projects” in Kinston, North Carolina.  He was very adventurous and curious about life and never stayed in one place too long.  He finished his Junior school years at the Adkin Middle School.  Thereafter he moved up north to Long Island, New York to stay with his Mother and Siblings.  He attended the Westbury Senior High School.  There he played football, and was said to be the funniest dude in the entire High School.

Straight out of high school Youell enlisted into The United States Armed Forces, where he served honorably for over 12 years.  During his service he met and married Ms. Delores Brown.   From that union came his oldest son Maurice Lin Dudley, whom has two children, Youell’s grandsons Damaruis, and Damajhi Dudley.  As well as Youell’s Daughter Michelle Dudley, whom also has two children, Youell’s granddaughters, Trechele Gutierrez, and Cristaza Wellborn all of South Carolina.

After serving in The Armed forces Youell went back to Long Island, New York where he worked various jobs.  One of his favorite jobs was getting up early in the morning to go to the beautiful Green Golf Course in Old Westbury where he worked as a Caddy for many years.

As it was said previously he didn’t stay in one place too long.  Youell then moved upstate to Schenectady, New York where his mother and some of his siblings resided.  It was there he met the love of his life Ms. Luella Crippen.  Luella already had two children, his beloved stepchildren, Daughter Thomasina and Son Joseph Crippen.  Youell was a beloved grandfather to Thomasina’s daughters, Adyia Crippen, and Taneyah Davenport.  His youngest children, Daughter Kaitlyn Dudley and Son Joell Dudley were born of that blessed union.  He was definitely a family man, and there was not a thing he would not do to make sure his family was provided for.

Youell was a man of faith.  He attended Bethel AME church under the leadership of Pastor Angelo Dawson.  He served on the Youth Ministries, where he led the Youth Choir.  He was also a member of the men’s choir.

Youell loved life, however sometimes life tried to get the best of him.  He was a cancer survivor, yet still faced other health challenges.  Still that did not stop him from living life and being the man his Mother taught him to be.  One who took care of his family.  He never complained about it he just went through it.  If he needed help he did not hesitate to ask.  He always kept it real.

When you saw him you better get ready for a good laugh, a good lesson, or a great talk.  He always guaranteed you a good laugh that was for sure.  He would often times enter a room doing the two-step and snapping his fingers while making a funny face, then he would just break into a song.  There was never a dull moment when you were in his presence.  He always left you in laughter.  His sense of humor was always welcomed because that’s who he was, and who we all loved so dearly.

February 22, 2023 he married his beloved, Luella.  Before marriage they were in union for 23 years.  On February 24, 2023 God called his name and said “Youell Dudley follow me” He went from labor to reward.  His faith never wavered.  The good news is that he is a part of each one of us.

Remember this…. He loved you!

The family of Youell Dudley wishes to express our deepest appreciation for the numerous expression of sympathy and love during this time of bereavement.
