James Cuyler affectionately known as “Jeff & JC “ Jeffress, was born on January 11, 1938, in Albany, NY to the late William A. & Edith E. (Springsteen) Jeffress. On Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at 9:42pm, God sent His angels to summons Cuyler home, he went peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.
Cuyler was raised in Albany, NY and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was Baptized at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Albany. Cuyler received his education from the Albany Public School System, he graduated from Albany High School in 1957. He was a star athlete in basketball, football and track. He also played on the traveling basketball team for the military and was honorably discharged from the US Navy after serving from 1959 to 1963.
Cuyler started his career with the Capital District Transportation Authority in 1966. He took great pride working and dedication as a Bus Operator for 34 years. During his tenure he received numerous awards; one being for 24 years of Consecutive Safe Driver Award as well as the Gold Medal Bus Operator Award for consecutive years.
Cuyler was well known in the Wolf Road area, where he resided for over 40 years. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. The Boston Red Sock was his favorite baseball team. He enjoyed watching old movies and enjoyed watching Moonshine.
Cuyler leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter, Darnel DeeDee Jeffress (Jacksonville, FL), his grandchildren; Tryone, Domonique, and Elijah Davis, seven great-grandchildren, his siblings; Yvonne (late Justin) Fletcher, Thomas Jeffress, and Lorraine (James) Chandler; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Also, special friend Donna Richardson.
Cuyler was predeceased by his siblings, William A., Bertram M., Alvin B. Jeffress, and Ardell M. Jeffress-Been.
