Michael Todd Ford, affectionately known to his friends as “Mike” passed away on May 5, 2026. Michael was the son of Cleo Ford and the late George T. Ford, Sr. He resided in Albany, New York for most of his life, and he also lived in Fort Washington, Maryland for several years.
Michael graduated with his high school diploma from Albany High School on June 21, 1981. Michael completed an apprenticeship program with Local 106 as an Operating Engineer and went on to become a Mechanic working with several local garages over the years, including Joe's Foreign Auto Shop and L & M Motors, Inc. He also previously worked for Albany County Nursing Home, Capital District Medical Transportation, and Albany School District. He joined the Maple Springs Baptist Church in Capital Heights, MD on August 27, 2006, and he was baptized on September 10, 2006, by the late Reverend Larry W. Jordan.
Everyone who met Michael knew his infectious spirit. He had a great passion for working on cars. He was an avid fisherman and loved any and everything that involved fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and cooking in his spare time. He loved people and made friends everywhere he went.
Michael is survived by his mother Cleo Ford, his son Shundel Ford, his two granddaughters Zakyah Ford and Ahna Ford, his siblings William Ford, George Ford Jr. (Randi), Shawn Ford (Zorymar), Brian Ford (Evelise), Tracy Ford (Hema), Samuel Ford, Phoebe Sims and Elaine McBride, his aunt Vella Trayham-Davis of Fort Washington, MD., his nieces Monique (Kenneth), Tiffany (Derrick), Brihan, Gianna, Keimaja, Keimani, Ayiana and Maiya, his nephews Lamont, Craig, Kenneth, Yarnick, Elijah, Brian Jr., Kyree (Kalia), Ahmad, Darius (Keisha), Jason, Rahkim and Christopher, 34 great nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins, friends and special friend Catherine Ivery. He was predeceased by his father George T. Ford, Sr.
