Mary Lou Perkins was born on May 29, 1931, in Rochelle, GA to Mae Hattie Brown and Walter McCormick. Mary Lou moved to Albany, NY and later married Thomas Perkins. She worked at both Killips Cleaners and Barry Sparks Dry Cleaners as a presser, she continued part time employment as an Aid at Arbor Hill Daycare Center until she could no longer work. She enjoyed talking to her neighbors, walking around Swimburne Park and playing bingo. She was lovingly known as “Grandma” to many.
Mary Lou suddenly departed on January 5, 2022, at home. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three daughters Peggy Welch of Florida, Sabrina Young and Patricia Welcome of Albany, NY. One son-in-law John Welcome, Sr of Albany, NY. Her great companion, caretaker and best friend Robert (Rob) Hicks, Nine grandchildren Desiree Thomas of Florida, Milisa( Shendu) Foulks, Latonya Stephens of Detroit, Roger Fiddemon of North Carolina, Natasha Perkins, Barbara, Calvin and Kaleaf Fiddemon, Thomas Bedell and Meisha Welcome, of Albany, NY. Forty great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, five sisters Claretha Alexander, Emily Williams, Beaulah Jones, Linda McCormick and Deborah Brown all of Florida, one sister-in-law Alice Perkins of Maryland and a host of relatives and friends. Mary Lou will be greatly missed.
Mary Lou was preceded by her husband Thomas Perkins, mother Mae Hattie (Brown) Fuller, father Walter McCormick, stepfather Henry Fuller, daughter Babette Fiddemon, granddaughter Patricia Fiddemon, grandson Johnny Welcome Jr., brother Lloyd Brown, sister Carrie B McCormick, brother-in-laws Chester and Homer Perkins and sister-in-law Geraldine Perkins.
