Mabel Virginia Harris

Mabel Virginia Harris was born on February 10th 1937 in Halifax County, Virginia and departed this life on August 3rd, 2025 in Albany NY, surrounded by family.

Mabel worked for the Surgical Department at the VA Medical Hospital Center for over 20 years. She was an avid baker, well known for her cakes and pies. Mabel had a generous spirit and was thought of as everyone's mom.

Mabel was joined in marriage to the late Armstead Lee Harris. Mabel was the mother of Edna Allen, Elbert (Peanut) Harris (deceased), Mary Carolyn Harris, and James A. Harris of Albany, NY.

Mabel is preceded in death by her father Joseph Cheney, her mother Virgie Cheney, her brothers Lewis Cheney, Robert (Buck) Cheney, William (Teen) Cheney, and her sister Hazel Chandler.

Mabel is survived by her brother Joseph (June) Cheney, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
