Linda Pierson Obituary

Linda Pierson was born to the late Felix and Viola Pringle on June 17th, 1951 in Kings County Brooklyn, NY. The Pringles, as they were referred to in the neighborhood, were a large, close family who always looked out for one another. Linda truly loved her family, which included her six sisters Lorraine , Theresa, Rose, Carolyn, Dorothy, and Louise; and her eight brothers David , Felix , James, Garry , Rodney, Barry, Lester, and Michael. Linda attended Far Rockaway High School in 1966 and graduated class of 1969. Ten years later in 1979, she married the late Gordon Pierson. She described him as a wonderful and kind man, who came from a beautiful family. Most of all he was crazy about her; his nickname for her was “Sweets.” Linda and Gordon were married in his family’s church; later they separated, with Gordon relocating to Florida and Linda staying in New York. Even with states between them they spoke regularly, always loved one another, and stayed married for over 30 years. Gordon was called home in August of 2020. In addition to her education, Linda was a certified Home Health Aide with the Association for the Aged Home Care. In 1984, she began her career caring for the elderly, many of whom were vision impaired or suffered from dementia. Throughout her career—which spanned over 30 years—she went above and beyond her duties truly treating her patients like a part of her family. Coming from a large family with a lot of personality, Linda was an outgoing woman. She loved jazz music, singing, dancing and always enjoyed a night out visiting family and friends. She had a beloved dog named Fluffy, who she nicknamed “Fleas.” Linda was always on the go and on the move, with all her bags and goodies for the children. She loved styling her hair with braids and curls and was never afraid to try new colorful styles. She loved wearing bold and vibrant colors and trendy clothing designs and was never without her signature red lipstick. Linda lived a life filled with love. She was a devoted and active member at her local church and had lifelong friendships. Though she did not have biological children she was a mother figure to so many, and helped raise and support many of her nieces and nephews. Her genuine caring and protective nature drew family and friends close to her; whenever there was an event or occasion she would be there, and always with her camera in hand. She loved taking and receiving photos which she proudly displayed all around her home. In 2016 Linda retired. As her neighborhood became less and less suitable for needs, she relocated to Binghamton, NY. During this time Linda shared joyful stories of having everything she needed so close and accessible, the wonderful fresh mountain air, and the great amenities of her new home which allowed her to easily access the care she needed and live independently. Linda had a joyful spirit. She had a great sense of humor and she brought laughter and excitement everywhere. Linda went home to be with the lord on September 1st, 2020 at 12:16pm. She leaves to cherish her memory her favorite and last living Aunt Mamie Elliot affectionately call Aunt Mae; her sisters Theresa Downey, Rose Norton, Carolyn Pringle-Bates, Louise Pringle-Wright; her brothers Barry Pringle, James Pringle, Rodney Pringle, Lester Pringle, and Michael Pringle; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and church family.
