Janine Elaine Saunders

Janine Elaine Saunders was born on July 9, 1959 to Milton and Helen Saunders in Brooklyn, New York. She was soon joined by younger brothers George and Frank Saunders, born in 1960 and 1961 respectively. Though Elaine would have nine children of her own, 6 boys and 3 girls, Elaine was a devoted sister who acted as a second mother to her younger brothers. A Brooklyn resident until she moved to Albany in 2006, Elaine attended P.S. 5, Erasmus, and Boys and Girls High School. To Elaine, food was love and she applied this mantra in her personal and professional life. Elaine was a cook at White Castle, and she combined her passion for cooking and caring for others by providing food to her community and working as a volunteer at food pantry.

She was preceded in death by her parents Milton and Helen Saunders and her brother, George. She is survived by her daughter Kizzy, brother Frank sister Christine, grandsons Scooby and Danny, great-grandson Jaziah, nephews Antoine and Kevin, Aunt Elain, Uncles Sylvester and Jerry I, cousins Nadia, Catherine, and Jerry II, sister-in-law Kim Saunders, and a host of extended family and friends on whom she has left an indelible mark.

Elaine will be remembered as a kind and gentle woman who sacrificed for those she loved. Adored by brother frank and everyone she knew, Elaine's beautiful life is a testament to the strong bonds that see us through our times on earth and stay with us long after we are gone.
