In Loving Memory of Geraldine Kearney
Geraldine Kearney peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, November 3, 2024. Born on May 27, 1947, in Warrenton, North Carolina, she was the beloved daughter of the late William McKinley (Mack) Kearney and Rebecca Kearney. Geraldine grew up in Albany NY, attending schools in the City School District and graduating from Phillip Schuyler High School.
Geraldine dedicated over 25 years to Eddy Home & Visiting Nurses, where her compassionate spirit and commitment to service earned her numerous awards and honors. Known for her kindness and generosity, Geraldine had a heart that embraced everyone she met. She was a gifted cook, cherished spending time with family, and found immense joy in caring for her loved ones, especially her grandchildren. Family gatherings—whether reunions, barbecues, Easter, Thanksgiving, or Christmas—brought her great delight, and she always found joy in lending a hand to anyone in need.
Geraldine leaves behind a family who will forever hold her memory close. She is survived by her children, Letrice Kearney-Andrews (Charles), Clifford Duane Graves (Renee), Nicole Kittell, and Kiante Jones (Solita), as well as her son-in-law Andre Porter. She will also be deeply missed by her devoted sister, JoAnne Kearney; her uncle, Joseph Bullock; and her aunt, Josephine Floyd (Lee). Geraldine’s legacy lives on in her grandchildren: Shaquanna Brown, Lorenzo and LaQuavia Jones, DeSean Kittell, Ja’Breay Graves, Chianna Porter, Duanea and Kalea Graves, India, Chiara, and Rayvon Andrews, William, Christopher, Keegan, and Rebecca Jones, along with her great-grandchildren Kyzaya Smith and Cree Graves. She also leaves behind her nephews, Kori Vice, James, and Nicholas Romand; her great-niece and nephew, Adrianna and Kori Vice II; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, William and Rebecca Kearney; her son, Juan Jose Graves; her daughter, Calefia Porter; longtime companion Elijah Jones; her Aunt Carrie Moore; her granddaughter Danecca Hill; her brother, Randy Hines; her sister, Laura Winbush; and her son-in-law, Larry Kittell.
A special note of gratitude goes to Regina DiLella, her cousin who brought a ray of sunshine to Geraldine every day. Your daily drop-bys made a difference that will never be forgotten.
As we remember Geraldine, let us celebrate her life and the love she gave to all who knew her. She has now found peace in the arms of her Savior and leaves us with a legacy of faith, love, and compassion. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
