Eric Duvall Obituary
Eric Duvall of Albany, New York passed into eternal rest at home on March 28, 2022, at the age of 65 after a brave battle with cancer. Eric was beloved by his family and friends.
Eric was born to Christine (Lovelace) and Lehman Duvall on September 20,1956 and was raised in Hempstead, New York. He attended Hempstead High School where his activities included football, track and field, and band. He was also a member of the elite band Silk, Satin, and Soul where he played the trumpet.
After graduating high school, Eric attended the University of Buffalo where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and met his wife, Evelyn. Eric was a longstanding member and laymen in the Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church and a member of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. Eric retired after a 33-year career with the Office of the New York State Comptroller.
Eric loved to travel, walk, read the newspaper, listen to live music, and attend theater performances. Eric was a fan of the former Montreal Expos and the New York Mets baseball teams, and the New York Jets football team. He attended numerous Expos and Mets games, and NCAA college basketball games. Eric was known for his quiet strength, wisdom, smooth dance skills, and his sense of humor.
Eric is survived by his wife of 44 years, Evelyn Duvall, his three daughters Rashann Duvall (Murad Kalam), Dr. Rachelle Duvall (Scott Hakonson) and Rosalynn Duvall, his three granddaughters, Shayla Duvall, Amelie Kalam and Natalia Hakonson, his sister Janice Duvall, and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews, and friends. Eric was pre-deceased by his parents Christine (Lovelace) and Lehman Duvall, and his nephew Charles Duvall.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 4, 2022, at Metropolitan New Testament Mission Baptist Church, located at 105 Second Street in Albany. The viewing will be held at 9:00 am, and services will begin at 11:00 am. Pre- registration is required to attend in-person services. Please register at https://www.metrobaptistalbany.com.
