Deaconess Emily Watson was born July 28, 1950 in Milledgeville, Georgia. Emily was the second eldest of 11 children born to Beauty and Johnny Watson. The family relocated to Hudson, NY in 1956-1957.
Emily attended the Hudson City School District from 1957-1967. She obtained her High School Diploma in 1979. Emily became a medical assistant in 1981. Emily moved to Albany, NY in 1992. Prior to meeting her ultimate goal, Emily held other employment positions, however she began her career as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor in 1995, becoming a Credentialed Counselor with the state of New York in 2000. Throughout the years, she held positions as Primary Counselor, House Manager, and eventually worked her way up the chain of command to be a Clinical Supervisor. Emily enjoyed helping others to overcome their addiction and to build their self-esteem and a sense of self-worth.
Emily was baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hudson, NY in 1964. She sang in the youth choir. She became a member of Bethany Baptist Church in 1993. She served on numerous ministries holding the positions of Sunday School Superintendent, President of Missionary Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, Women’s Ministry member, and Deaconess of Ministry.
Emily leaves to cherish her memory her son, Ricardo M Watson, daughter in law Lisa Dixon-Watson, her parents Johnny and Beauty Watson, sisters Bernice, Barbara, Patricia, Wanda, brothers, Jay, and Julius. 5 grandchildren, Shira, Leita (Ju Tory), Ricardo Jr., Ashley, Naquaisha, 13 great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Special friends, Chris Stone, Ella Mae Tibbs and Mother Evelyn Stone. Emily was predeceased by siblings, Johnny Jr, William, Julia, and Jeffrey Watson.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday June 7,2021 at 1pm at Hudson Lodge of Elks 201 Harry Howard Ave, Hudson NY. Rev John Killikelly, Eulogist,
