Dorothy Louise Morales, affectionately known as “Mudd,” entered into eternal rest at her home in Loudonville, NY on Thursday, October 24, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Dorothy was born in Lakeland, Florida, the only child of the late Henry Mitchell and Rose Mitchell on December 16, 1924. At a young age, Dorothy and her parents came north and after a brief stay in Schenectady, NY they relocated to Albany, NY and it was here she received her formal education in the Albany City School System.
After high school she found a rewarding and meaningful path in private duty care. She managed to build lasting relationships with the Battaglia and the Boland families. Dorothy’s dedication created a strong sense of connection and appreciation within these families.
Later, Dorothy was employed by St. Peter’s Hospital in the housekeeping department. It was here that she took great joy in her work. She never missed a single day throughout her many years of employment.
Dorothy had a passion for Bingo. She also enjoyed lottery tickets and loved playing “the numbers.” For fun she enjoyed traveling to casinos and she was always ready to share a lucky number with friends.
With a quick wit and sharp tongue, Dorothy’s sense of humor was well-known. Her honest opinions were always on hand - - whether you asked for them or not. You could count on her to tell it like it was!
Dorothy cherished all her grandchildren, (including all her greats) each holding a special place in her heart. She had a soft spot for those who lovingly called her “Granny” and “Nana.”
Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; her former husband, Celestino Morales; her long-time companion, James Doiley; and her loving children, Richard, Ruby, Rose, Dennis, David, Edward, Virginia, Michael, Jose and Marcolena.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s precious memory are her four children: her son, Lamont Morales (Frances) (Cohoes, NY); daughters, Vera Ann Petersen (Brooklyn, NY), Leona Davis (Albany, NY) and Retha Doiley-Miller (Kenneth) (Loudonville, NY) and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
