Diane Andrews Obituary

Diane Andrews passed away of natural causes at Albany Medical Center, on February 18, 2025 at 4:06 p.m. Diane Andrews was born in Albany, New York. She attended public school #24, Hackett Middle School and received her G.E.D. from the New York State Department of Education. Before going on to attend and graduate from Albany Business College. She worked as a customer service representative at United Health Care for 30 plus years. She attended St. John’s COGIC Church in Albany, New York.

She enjoyed attending family events. Where one of her favorite past times was playing cards! Spades was the game. Where she played with wit and calculation trying to outwit other family members and friends. Diane who was often quiet and reserved would come alive around the card table especially if she sensed one of her opponents had bid too many books. One of here signature moves was to slam a card on the table announcing to the players, somebody was set!

Around her family and that card table you would get the most life you would ever see out of Diane. She loved her family and she loved playing cards, eating and enjoying the company of familiar faces and loved ones. Diane rarely hung out. When not around family she spent her time at home with her life partner Thomas Peterson. They would often sit around and watch tv and try to figure out the daily 3 and 4 pick numbers for the day. If she was feeling really lucky, she might add a few scratch-off tickets into the midst of her daily lottery hunt.

Diane also, liked to read. She would lay across the couch and read books by Alice Walker, Terry McMillian and other works of fiction. People that knew her say Diane lived in her own world. She was quiet and reserved in her character, but she was very much aware and observant. She was mentally sharp and had a non-threatening presence and demeanor. Which allowed her to blend in different environments with a multitude of personalities.

Diane loved to travel. She would regularly attend events like the Kool Jazz Fest and other concerts, amusement parks, casinos, road trips to visit family. She was in constant motion even when sitting still. Her mind was planning her next adventure. She lived quietly, but had a huge impact on all who existed in her world. She held her cards close to her chest at the card table, but in life she played her hand cards face up. You already knew what you were getting when you got Diane. You never had to guess. She showed up as the same person every time.

Diane was born June 4th 1956 to Sadie Mae Cobbins 01/25/1932 - 09-20-2011 and Nemiah Andrews 01/10/1933 – 03/08/2002. Diane is survived by her sibling Joanne Andrews, her two children Aaron Bebo and Angela Peterson, her niece Demetria Andrews, her grandson Aaron Rhem and her life partner Thomas Peterson and countless aunts and cousins from the Cobbins family, House family, Andrews family.
