Ardella Comer Obituary

Ardella Maria Comer, affectionately called Maria, was born on August 20, 1958 to Audrey Parsons and the late Leon Wilson in Albany, NY.  At 3 months old, Ardella was adopted and raised by Phoebe and Floyd Comer.

She attended Albany High School from 1972-76. She was very smart and loved being on the drill team.  She graduated bi-centennial year 1976. She then moved on to gain her Associates in Accounting from SUNY Cobleskill shortly after. Although Ardella had a strong love for math and solving equations, her true passion was working with children. She worked various jobs throughout the capitol region teaching children. Ardella worked with children until she was unable to work due to illness.

In 1979, Ardella gave birth to her first son, Jevon Bostic, and in 1980, she gave birth to her only and beautiful daughter, Nakia Bostic. In 1983, she met James McGraw Jr. whom she settled down with and gained a step-son, Damond McGraw. In 1986, Ardella gave birth to her last son, Justin McGraw. In 1995, Ardella and James got married.

Ardella’s health started to decline after she suffered a massive stroke in December of 2008. With family by her side, she appeared to recover well, but overtime, the stroke, along with other illnesses took a toll on her body and she was called home on August 21, 2021.

Ardella was predeceased by: her father, Leon Wilson; adopted mother and father, Phoebe and Floyd Comer; step-son, Damond McGraw and step-grandson Josiah McGraw.
